Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology refers specific Cather based techniques to various structural heart diseases, non-surgical procedures for treating cardiovascular disease. Interventional cardiologists use catheters – thin, flexible tube to repair damaged vessels or other heart structures, often avoiding the need for surgery. Many procedures can performed on heart by Catheterization. This most commonly involves the insertion of a sheath into the femoral artery and cannulating the heart under X-ray visualization.Cardiac catheterization is a test which used to evaluate your coronary arteries and heart valve function.

The purpose of the Molecular Cardiology is to study the molecular mechanisms that underlie cardiovascular biology and disease. Molecular Cardiology also focuses on the role of lipid metabolism in the regulation of cell signaling in the heart and vasculature and investigates genetic and biological mechanisms of Heart and Cardiovascular disease. Abnormalities of lipid metabolism, hypertension and angiogenesis have all been shown to play a role in the development and growth of atherosclerotic plaques. Angiotensin II has been shown to induce hypertension, and atherosclerosis in vivo and VEGF (Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor) and angiogenesis in vitro.

Heart disease is a term used to describe the range of conditions that affect your heart. Cardiovascular disease is a class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels . Under the heart disease it includes blood vessel diseases, arrhythmias and congenital heart defects. The term a heart disease is also called as Cardiovascular disease  generally refers to conditions that involve the heart or blood vessels which include coronary artery disease and myocardial infraction. Now a day cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally .

Interventional pediatric medical specialty principally involves dilatation of stenosed vessels or valves and occlusion of abnormal communications. Several transcatheter techniques—such as balloon dilatation, tube implantation, and coil occlusion—have been tailored from adult follow. Interventional procedures follow a typical technique. General anaesthesia or sedation is needed, and most procedures begin with transcutaneous limb access, whereas stents and occlusion devices square measure protected or strained inside long plastic sheaths.

Sympathetic nerve activity has been reported to be increased in both humans and animals with chronic heart failure. One of the mechanisms believed to be responsible for this phenomenon is increased systemic and cerebral angiotensin II signaling. Plasma angiotensin II is increased in humans and animals with chronic heart failure. Blocking angiotensin II type 1 receptors decreases sympathetic nerve activity and cardiac sympathetic afferent reflex when therapy is administered to the paraventricular nucleus.. Cardiac fibroblasts (CF) are well-established as key regulators of extracellular matrix (ECM) turnover in the context of myocardial remodelling and fibrosis. The increasing availability of detailed, atrial-specific experimental data has stimulated the development of novel computational models of atrial-cellular electrophysiology and Ca2+ -handling. Dysregulation of autophagy in cardiomyocytes is implicated in various heart disease conditions. Beclin 1, a mammalian ortholog (Genes of different species that evolved from common ancestral gene).

Angioplasty is a procedure of  non-surgical  that can be used to open blocked heart arteries. Next  a sheath  is inserted into an artery usually of  groin but sometimes in the arm.  Percutaneous coronary intervention is also  known as coronary angioplasty which is used to  treat the coronary stenotic arteries of the heart found in coronary heart disease. In Peripheral angioplasty technique they use a  balloon to open a blood vessel which is outside the coronary arteries. Carotid artery stenosis is another procedure treated with   angioplasty called carotid stenting for patients with  high-risk for carotid endarterectomy. Renal artery stenosis can lead to hypertension and loss of renal function.

Valve replacement surgery is that the replacement of one or additional of the heart valves with either a synthetic heart valve or a bioprosthesis. It’s an alternative to valve repair. There are five procedures for Valve replacement aortic valve replacement, mitral valve replacement, right atrioventricular valve replacement, semilunar valve replacement and percutaneous valve replacement.

Cardio-oncology, or onco-cardiology, is the discipline that focuses on the intersection of cardiovascular disease and cancer. With the prognosis for many cancers improving, we are seeing an appropriate sharpening of focus on the cardiovascular risks of patients who have survived cancer or are being treated for cancer, as well as a growing recognition of the impact this competing morbidity has on both short- and long-term health outcomes.

Fractional flow reserve (FFR) measure involves crucial the magnitude relation between most  possible blood flow in a very diseased arteria coronaria and therefore the theoretical maximum flow in a very normal arteria coronaria. Drug-eluting balloons (DEB) are standard semi-compliant angioplasty balloons lined with an anti-proliferative drug that is released into the vessel wall throughout inflation of the balloon, typically at nominal pressures with a particular inflation time. Biodegradable stents, Mitra Clip are considered because the latest advancements in Interventional cardiology.

Until recently the relation between obesity and coronary heart disease was viewed as indirect, i.e., through covariates related to both obesity and coronary heart disease risk, including hypertension; dyslipidemia, particularly reductions in HDL cholesterol; and impaired glucose tolerance or non–insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus. Insulin resistance and accompanying hyperinsulinemia are typically associated with these comorbidities. Although most of the comorbidities relating obesity to coronary artery disease increase as BMI increases, they also relate to body fat distribution. Long-term longitudinal studies, however, indicate that obesity as such not only relates to but independently predicts coronary atherosclerosis. This relation appears to exist for both men and women with minimal increases in BMI. In a 14-year prospective study, middle-aged women with a BMI >23 but <25 had a 50% increase in risk of nonfatal or fatal coronary heart disease, and men aged 40 to 65 years with a BMI >25 but <29 had a 72% increased risk. The overall relation between obesity and coronary artery disease morbidity and mortality is less clear for Hispanics, Pima Indians, and African-American women

Cardiac nursing is a nursing specialty that works with patients who suffer from various conditions of the cardiovascular system. Cardiac nurses help treat conditions such as unstable angina, cardiomyopathy, coronary artery disease, congestive heart failure, myocardial infarction and cardiac dysrhythmia under the direction of a cardiologist.

Cardiac nurses perform postoperative care on a surgical unit, stress test evaluations, cardiac monitoring, vascular monitoring, and health assessments. Cardiac nurses must have Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification. In addition, cardiac nurses must possess specialized skills including electrocardiogram monitoring, defibrillation, and medication administration by continuous intravenous drip.

In medicine, a case report may be an elaborate report of the symptoms, signs, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up of a personal patient. Case reports could contain a demographic profile of the patient, however typically describe an uncommon or novel prevalence.
