Interventional Cardiology 2017

OMICS International Conferences invites all the participants from all over the world to attend "International Conference on Interventional Cardiology" during October 17-18, 2016 at Rome, Italy which includes prompt keynote presentations, Oral talks, Poster presentations and Exhibitions.

Conference theme: "Advances of Interventional Cardiology in Scientific Era".

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter based treatment of structural heart diseases. Interventional cardiologists are board-certified cardiologists who perform interventional cardiology procedures, most often in a cardiac catheterization lab at a hospital. The majority of interventional cardiology procedures are performed in the cardiovascular (heart, veins and arteries) system. Most interventional cardiology procedures are considered to be minimally invasive because they do not require an instrument to enter the body or large incisions -- most incisions are approximately 1 inch. These procedures usually involve the insertion of a catheter (hollow tube) into the femoral artery in the upper leg. The catheter is guided toward the heart or vascular area through the use of real-time X-ray. The interventional cardiology and peripheral vascular devices market is expected to reach $26.72 Billion by 2019 from $18.73 Billion in 2014, at a CAGR of 7.4%.

Track: 1 Interventional Cardiology

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology refers specific Cather based techniques to various structural heart diseases, non-surgical procedures for treating cardiovascular disease. Interventional cardiologists use catheters – thin, flexible tube to repair damaged vessels or other heart structures, often avoiding the need for surgery. Many procedures can performed on heart by Catheterization. This most commonly involves the insertion of a sheath into the femoral artery and cannulating the heart under X-ray visualization.Cardiac catheterization is a test which used to evaluate your coronary arteries and heart valve function.

Heart disease is a term used to describe the range of conditions that affect your heart. Cardiovascular disease is a class of diseases that involve the heart or blood vessels . Under the heart disease it includes blood vessel diseases, arrhythmias and congenital heart defects. The term a heart disease is also called as Cardiovascular disease  generally refers to conditions that involve the heart or blood vessels which include coronary artery disease and myocardial infraction. Now a day cardiovascular diseases are the leading cause of death globally.

Track: 3 Diagnostic Testing

Cardiac catheterization is a procedure to examine how heart is working and treat cardiovascular conditions. During cardiac catheterization process a thin and hollow tube called a catheter is inserted into a large blood vessel which  leads to your heart. Intravascular ultrasound  is a medical  method of imaging  specially designed catheter with a miniaturized ultrasound probe. Myocardial biopsy is the technique used  for examination of heart muscle. Fractional flow reserve is a technique used for coronary catheterization to measure pressure differences across a coronary artery stenosis .  Optical coherence tomography is an  technique used to  medical imaging  that uses the light to capture micrometer-resolution, and three-dimensional images based on low-coherence interferometry from within optical scattering media.

Track: 4 Radial Artery

The main artery of the lateral aspect of the forearm in human anatomy is Radial Artery. It arises from the bifurcation of the brachial artery in the cubital fossa. It originates as the smaller terminal branch of the brachial artery in the region of elbow at the part of head of the radius bone. It runs distally on the anterior part of the forearm. There, it is called as a landmark for the division between the anterior and posterior compartments of the forearm. Radial arteries are divided into few groups which are Radial recurrent artery, radial collateral artery, superficial palmar branch of the radial artery etc.

Track: 5Angioplasty

Angioplasty is a procedure of  non-surgical  that can be used to open blocked heart arteries. Next  a sheath  is inserted into an artery usually of  groin but sometimes in the arm.  Percutaneous coronary intervention is also  known as coronary angioplasty which is used to  treat the coronary stenotic arteries of the heart found in coronary heart disease. In Peripheral angioplasty technique they use a  balloon to open a blood vessel which is outside the coronary arteries. Carotid artery stenosis is another procedure treated with   angioplasty called carotid stenting for patients with  high-risk for carotid endarterectomy. Renal artery stenosis can lead to hypertension and loss of renal function.

Interventional pediatric medical specialty principally involves dilatation of stenosed vessels or valves and occlusion of abnormal communications. Several transcatheter techniques—such as balloon dilatation, tube implantation, and coil occlusion—have been tailored from adult follow. Interventional procedures follow a typical technique. General anaesthesia or sedation is needed, and most procedures begin with transcutaneous limb access, whereas stents and occlusion devices square measure protected or strained inside long plastic sheaths.

(Theme: Advances of Interventional Cardiology in Scientific Era)

 Summary:

Interventional cardiology is a branch of cardiology that deals specifically with the catheter based treatment of structural heart diseases. A large number of procedures can be performed on the heart by catheterization. This most commonly involves the insertion of a sheath into the femoral artery (but, in practice, any large peripheral artery or vein) and cannulating the heart under X-ray visualization.

Interventional cardiologists treat narrowed arteries and weakened heart valves – often caused by coronary artery disease, heart valve disease, or peripheral vascular disease. Coronary artery disease, Heart Valve Disease, Peripheral Vascular Disease are types of heart diseases treated with Interventional Cardiology.

Importance & Scope:

Cardiology is getting broader scope over time. An interventional cardiologist will typically perform cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty, coronary stenting, and primary pci for myocardial infarction. A subset of interventional cardiologist will be involved in structural heart disease performing ASD closures, balloon valvuloplasty, and percutaneous aortic valve replacement.

There has been an explosion in the field of interventional cardiology. The first percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty more than 30 years ago. With the development of a multitude of steering wires, balloons, rotablators, and stents, percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) can now be performed in nearly any patient with coronary artery disease.

Why Philadelphia:

Philadelphia is said to be the best developed place for the Interventional Cardiology. Penn Medicine, Thomas Jefferson Universityis most found of cardiology research and is very eminent in Interventional Cardiology.
